It was the year, 1868 when Eduard Gerlach took his first step in creating Gehwol after expanding his father's colonial good store to a drugstore in Germany. As a former soldier, Eduard Gerlach knows how it feels having an unbearable painful sore feet. After being a pharmacist, he crafted a preservative cream in 1882 by mixing substances such as potassium carbonate, unsaturated fatty acids, mineral-based lubricants and disinfecting essential oils. Because of the unique ingredients he used for the special cream, he was able to quickly find a market and successfully manufactured cheap yet high-quality foot care products in large quantities.
